Yesterday (24/04) at 8:30 am the flyball club of l’Isle Adam (95) organized a flyball tournament. We were lucky with the beautiful weather. It was so good to practice this sport in outdoors with this condition. Now let’s me tell you some results

There were 30 registered dogs. The tournament began with individual event : each dog and owner do an individual race 3 times. A judge times each race and save the best stopwatch.

At the end of this event, my dog and I finished at the 4th position. We improved our stopwatch record!!! 3 second tenth less so now in the national tanking we go to the 44th place (337 dogs registered). Lola is now the 2nd fastest speed Jack Russel in France.

Unfortunately, the rest of the day wasn’t like the morning. With the team, we miss the chance. One time a dog harness dropped during the race so we were eliminate. In other time the judge began the race but we were not ready so we missed the start. And to finish, the temperature was too hot for some dogs so they were tired. At the end, some of our dogs left the race line to go in the shadow (not my dog because it like the sun).  With all these good news we finished at the 3^rd position (there were only 5 teams of 3 dogs…..)

The next tournament will be in June so we have time to train

Let’s me introduce you a neglected dog sport: Flyball

As you could read in my first post, I have practiced this sport for 2 years ago with my dog. And last year we finished 2nd at French championship.

It’s the only dog sport which is played in teams. It is a run in teams of four dogs (maximum), it’s like a kind of relay. Dogs need to run and jump 4 hurdles, touch the flyball box, take the tennis ball, returns its ball all the way across the start line before the next dog crosses. Ideal running is nose-to-nose at the start line. And so on with the other.

Here is the description of the race field (each measure is in inch).

A French tournament is made up of 3 events:

• Individual race: each dog records it own time (3 attempts)
• Individual team race: each teams records it own time (3 attempts)
• Face to face : You face all the other teams, that’s why you see two lines

I will explain with more details for the team race:

• Each team goes in his racing lane and prepares dogs (warm up is very important)
• Each dog owner takes his dog and waits for the start. There is a traffic light like in F1. A person stays behind the box to call the dog, it’s a kind of motivation for dog.
• Owner drops his dog and ideally, the dog nose must be near the start line when the green light appears. So you need to know your dog inside out. In order to make good time, you’re the speed of your dog must be maximum before it cross the start line. That’s why we drop the dog between 10m and 20m before the line.
• When the dog takes the tennis ball, the second team mate must forecast the finish of the first dog to drop his own on time.
• And so on…The first team to have all four dogs cross the finish line without errors wins the heat. If dog doesn’t jump a hurdle or if it doesn’t bring back the ball to it master, it’s an error. The biggest error is when 2 dogs pass each other between the start line and the first hurdle, the team loss immediately the heat

With this season , I couldn’t miss the opportunity to present you one of the oldest activity (6000 BC) which use dog: the sleigh.

Some people think this sport is not very difficult. There are a musher, a sleigh,  dogs and the musher manages his dogs. So I tell that only for this people : take a dog (preferably your dog) and ask it to go to left or right without sign. Okay it’s a quite difficult for the first exercice but it is fundamentals for their lead dog.

I have already been the musher one time in Lapland, I really enjoyed it. I recommend you to do it (only if you like dog and COLD)

In the English class, we had to choice a DVD from the list and, of course, I selected an American sitcom called “How I met your mother” (if you didn’t read the title ^^)

I decided to write this post to show you the true about dog called “dangerous dogs”. In France, there are approximately 1 dog for 3 families (4 people). Each year,  you already hear many dog attacks. And since 1999 it has exited 2 dog’s categories : Attack and defense dog

If you go in England, you have only 4 dangerous dogs : Pit Bull Terrier/Japanese Tosa (“Tosa inu”)/Fila Brasileiro (“Boer-bull”)/Dogo Argentino(“Dog argentin”).  So why english people haven’t the same dangerous dogs?  Do you think if you cross over the Channel dog comportment will be change ? Of course no, or a little little bite, may be english dog have english humour ^^.

My luxure item will be a volleyball ball in order to draw a human face on it.

That’s why I love dog,  they are so unpredictable. Each day is a new day

These are the 5 important things I want to do in the next five years :

1.Have a good job. Good job is for me an interesting job and not necessary a job with big wage level.

2.Buy house with a big garden. This is for the other things below

3.Have a child. It’s not urgent but I think normal event

4.Have a third dog. I hesitate between border collie, belgian shepherd dog or czech wolf

5.Get married

It’s official things, but now I can tell you 5 other things if I gain by lottery

1.Gain by lottery!!

2.Buy a big palace

3.Stop to work to travel the world

4.Create a nature reserve to preserve endangered species

5.It’s impossible to gain by lottery so I don’t think it’s important to have the 5th thing. I think I have another idea : buy an island to ‘preserve’ red-haired people (that’s for you Max) or maybe I could open my nature reserve ^^

Let me introduce myself.

I ‘am NoNo and I’m engineer trainee in optronic. My school is going to change it name. It called IFIPS and now it’s Polytech Paris Sud. It’s sounds better!!!!

I work for EADS France Innovation Works company, in the department of “Natural radiation environment”. We study the sensitivity of electronic component toward cosmic particle.

What do you want to know about me? ? 

I’m 22 and I have some difficulties to learn english  though I spent 3 months in Ireland. During this training course, I improve my english and I can tell you I dreamed in english but it’s over. I lost my english brain during one month.   

Except for saving people, my life appears like the other. In fact, not really, my biggest addiction is dog’s world. I spend my free time to train my dog, LOLA, a pretty Jack Russel. I know lot of people think this kind of activities is for old people but it doesn’t matter. I don’t practice beauty exposition but a really sport. Agility , if you don’t know what it is try to find a video, it’s really worth it and it could be change  how you see dog activities. “We” practice flyball in competition, this years our team finished 3rd in the france championship.
